The Four months old industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU may soon be called off.
This follows indications from recent closed door meeting held
yesterday between the supervising minister and minister of state for
education, Barr Nyesom Wike and a team of the universities striking
lecturers led by the union president, Dr Isa Fagge.
Members of the academic union emerged from the meeting with visible
smiles and clearly stated revival of relationship between the union and
the federal government.
However, the details of the meeting were not disclosed as members of
ASUU were escorted by the supervising minister of education, to ensure
that the members of the union did not address the press.
Earlier this week, the minister also met with vice chancellors of
public owned universities in a closed door meeting, and details of the
meeting was not equally disclosed.
